As a core professional institution deeply rooted in artificial intelligence education in Singapore, the Association for Research on AI in Learning and Leadership (ARAILL) has long dedicated itself to popularising local digital science and innovation education, building teaching capacity, and boosting cross-border educational collaboration across Southeast Asiaaraill.org. Guided by Singapore’s international development strategy for science and innovation education, the association has joined hands with the Tencent WeChat Team, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Global Alliance of Intelligent Network Schools (GAINS) and other authoritative bodies to organise the upgraded Southeast Asian leg of The 5th WeChat Mini Program Global Innovation Challenge together with supporting themed events. These efforts facilitate high-quality progress in AI innovation education for young people across Southeast Asia.
The WeChat Mini Program Global Innovation Challenge has entered a brand-new development phase with the official launch of an exclusive Southeast Asian division. The regional kickoff ceremony and AI education exchange summit will be grandly hosted in Singapore. ARAILL sincerely invites primary and secondary school principals, frontline teachers and all educators across Southeast Asia to gather in Singapore. This event builds a high-level international exchange platform for science and innovation education, enabling participants to jointly explore new pathways for youth innovation education in the artificial intelligence era.
Open to global students from Grade 1 to Grade 12, the challenge encourages young learners to translate creative ideas into functional mini-program works with tangible real-world value. Supported by an AI-powered mini-program education platform, the competition has expanded its global footprint, attracting participation from nearly 8,000 schools and over 87,000 students, with more than 287,000 innovative mini-program projects submitted in total. Four consecutive editions have laid solid foundations, collecting more than 7,000 high-quality entries and continuously discovering outstanding young talents with innovative thinking and hands-on capabilities.

Singaporean students delivered remarkable results in the previous global competition. Youth teams selected and cultivated via the inaugural Singapore regional competition advanced to the global finals and claimed First Prizes, Second Prizes and the Most Valuable Connection Award. Their excellent performance demonstrates the outstanding innovative potential and comprehensive practical abilities of Southeast Asian teenagers, as well as the proven effectiveness of Singapore’s local science and innovation education system.
The year 2026 ushers in a new competition season, with the former Singapore regional contest fully upgraded into the Southeast Asian Regional Challenge. This series of Singapore events serves both as the launch ceremony for the Southeast Asian division of the 5th global challenge and an international cross-institutional exchange summit for AI education. ARAILL will collaborate with education partners from all sectors to bring together educators throughout Southeast Asia for in-depth dialogues covering teenage digital literacy cultivation, campus-based AI curriculum promotion and cross-border educational cooperation. The initiative connects classroom science and innovation teaching with international competitions, supporting resource sharing and experience exchange among Southeast Asian science education communities.
The event consists of two major core modules: the Southeast Asian Regional Opening Ceremony and the Seed Teacher Development Programme. The opening ceremony unites multiple educational stakeholders to officially kick off the new Southeast Asian competition season, share cutting-edge concepts of international youth innovation education, and advance regular communication and collaboration networks among educational institutions in Southeast Asia.
The accompanying Seed Teacher Training Programme prioritises the practical implementation of science and innovation teaching. It offers systematic training covering mini-program development and hands-on AI agent teaching, empowering primary and secondary school teachers to establish comprehensive digital science and innovation teaching systems. Teachers who complete all coursework and pass assessments will receive official Seed Teacher certification. Certified teachers gain access to standardised teaching resources to deliver regular campus science and innovation classes and provide structured guidance for students participating in international innovation competitions, creating clear international growth paths for young learners across the region.
The Association for Research on AI in Learning and Leadership (ARAILL) looks forward to meeting educators from all over Southeast Asia in Singapore. We aim to jointly build a robust youth science and innovation education ecosystem for Southeast Asia, continuously empower young regional innovators, and help teenagers across Southeast Asia seize digital opportunities to step onto broader international stages.
