Hosted by the Association for Research on AI in Learning and Leadership (ARAILL), the Design AI Education Innovation Forum and the Award Ceremony for the Singapore Regional Competition of the WeChat Mini Program Global Innovation Challenge were successfully held on 20 April 2026 at the Tembusu Global Alumni Innovation Hub in Singapore.

The event brought together representatives from the education and technology sectors. Centred on the theme of AI education innovation, the forum aimed to promote the development of artificial intelligence education for young people in Singapore and to foster international exchange through keynote sharing sessions, cooperation signing ceremonies, achievement commendations and demonstration class presentations.

I. Forum Opening: Exploring the Innovative Direction of AI Education

At the beginning of the event, Chua Chee Lay, President of the Association for Research on AI in Learning and Leadership (ARAILL), delivered the opening speech.

He extended a warm welcome to university representatives, teachers, students and partners present, and introduced the background and objectives of the forum. The forum focuses on the application and innovative practices of AI in education, aims to build an exchange platform for youth science and innovation in Singapore, and promotes educational technology cooperation between China and Singapore.

Subsequently, representatives from the Singapore University of Technology and Design delivered a thematic presentation on the application and innovation of Design AI in education.

They shared insights into the cutting-edge applications of artificial intelligence in design education and interdisciplinary teaching practices, demonstrating the diverse possibilities of AI-empowered education to the teachers and students present.

II. Major Signings: Opening a New Chapter in School–Industry Cooperation

Signing of the SUTD–ARAILL Memorandum of Cooperation

The two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation focusing on Design AI and AI education, and jointly promote the innovation and implementation of artificial intelligence education.

ARAILL will leverage its strengths in strategic coordination and resource integration, collaborate with local universities and educational institutions, and support the local promotion and implementation of SUTD’s high-quality education programmes in Singapore.

Through this cooperation, both parties will jointly build an innovative AI education platform, injecting new momentum into the cultivation of young people’s scientific and technological innovation capabilities and promoting international educational exchanges.

Signing of the WeChat Mini Program – ARAILL Memorandum of Cooperation

ARAILL has entered into cooperation with the Tencent WeChat team.

Leveraging the WeChat Mini Program platform, high-quality resources for AI programming and innovation practice will be provided for young people in Singapore, helping them enhance their digital literacy and technological innovation capabilities.

The signing of this cooperation marks an important step for the association in advancing AI education innovation in Singapore and lays a solid foundation for further university–industry cooperation in the future.

III. Demonstration Base Licensing: Establishing a Benchmark for AI Education in Singapore

During the event, the WeChat Mini Program Demonstration School Awarding Ceremony was also held.

Bukit Panjang Government High School was officially awarded the title of Singapore’s First “WeChat Mini Program AI Innovative Education Demonstration Base.”

School representatives stated that WeChat Mini Programs will be incorporated into the core programming platform for interdisciplinary project-based learning in secondary schools.

Relevant courses are expected to be gradually introduced from 2027, allowing students to experience the joy of programming while strengthening their scientific and innovative capabilities through hands-on learning.

IV. Event Commendation: Witnessing the Scientific and Innovative Strength of Singaporean Youth

One of the key highlights of the event was the Award Ceremony for the Singapore Regional Competition of the 4th WeChat Mini Program Global Innovation Challenge, where outstanding competition entries were recognised on site.

Gold Award :

The mini program “Singapore: A City of Beauty and Order”, designed by sibling duo Hu Chenxin from Raffles Girls’ School and Hu Chenyi from Nan Hua High School, integrates Singapore’s tourist attractions and legal knowledge into an interactive gamified design.

Through engaging features, the mini program helps tourists learn about local culture and regulations, earning the Gold Award for its creativity and practicality.

Silver Award :

The mini program “Campus Culture Exchange Station”, jointly developed by students from Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore and Bashu Ivy School in Chongqing, China, has established a cultural exchange platform for young people from both countries.

This project represents the first cross-border collaborative creation between secondary school students from China and Singapore, and stands out as a remarkable achievement in science and innovation exchanges between the two countries.

At the scene, the award-winning students shared their thoughts and gains during the creation process. Many students stated that this competition has not only improved their programming and AI application skills but also helped them grow through teamwork and cross-cultural communication.

V. Demonstration Class Display: AI Education Enters the Classroom

Following the award ceremony, guests were invited to observe a demonstration lesson on Design AI and WeChat Mini Programs.

Using competition cases as examples, the instructor demonstrated how teachers and students can leverage the AI development tools of the WeChat Mini Program platform to reduce the barriers to programming learning, guide students in developing creative projects, and provide a practical model for AI programming education in Singapore.

Bridged by AI, Empowering Teenagers’ Future in Scientific and Technological Innovation

The successful hosting of this forum and awards ceremony not only showcased the outstanding achievements of Singaporean youth in AI programming and innovative practice, but also injected new vitality into the development of AI education in Singapore through school–industry cooperation and international exchange.

As the organiser, the Association for Research on AI in Learning and Leadership (ARAILL) will continue to serve as a bridge connecting universities, enterprises and educational institutions, build more science and innovation exchange platforms for young people in Singapore, promote the popularisation and development of artificial intelligence education, and support more youths in becoming innovative talents in the digital era.
