On 29 May 2024, Dr. Chua Chee Lee, President of the Association for Research on AI in Learning and Leadership, and Vice President Mr Fang Lü, led an association delegation to Victoria Junior College — the alma mater of Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. They held an in-depth exchange on education and teaching practices with the college’s teaching staff.

As one of Singapore’s premier educational institutions, Victoria Junior College has long been at the forefront of educational development. The association’s visit aims to further advance the use of AI technology in language education, while exploring new approaches and pedagogies for teaching and learning.

During the visit, Dr. Chua Chee Lee, Mr Fang Lü and their delegation held face-to-face discussions with the teaching staff of Victoria Junior College. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on the current state of teaching and learning, sharing professional experiences and insights. The association also briefed the college on the latest applications and development trends of AI technology in language education.

Dr. Chua Chee Lee noted that AI technology holds broad application potential in language learning. Leveraging AI algorithms and big data analytics, educators can gain more precise insights into students’ learning profiles and offer personalised learning plans and guidance tailored to each individual.
At the same time, AI also helps teachers better understand students’ learning progress and challenges, allowing them to adjust teaching strategies and enhance overall teaching effectiveness.

Beyond discussions on teaching and learning, the association’s leaders also held in-depth talks with Victoria Junior College’s teaching staff and students regarding future exchange plans. The association expressed its warm welcome to VJC’s teachers and students to visit China for exchanges in the second half of the year, aiming to further broaden their horizons and strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between the youth of the two countries.

This visit by the Association for Research on AI in Learning and Leadership to Victoria Junior College not only facilitated exchanges and cooperation between the two parties in the field of education, but also built a new bridge for the friendship between China and Singapore, while injecting new momentum into the future development of AI-driven language learning.
