On the afternoon of September 10th, Cai Zhili, President of the Singapore Artificial Intelligence Education Association, and Fang Lü, Vice President, along with a delegation including representatives Li Jiafang and Zhao Kechen, visited Hefei No. 6 High School High-tech Campus for an exchange. They were accompanied by Zhang Yuan, a foreign affairs specialist from the Hefei Municipal Bureau of Education. Wu Changfa, Principal of Hefei No. 6 High School High-tech Campus, together with Vice Principals Zhang Xuanjun, Wang Fei, Wang Bing, and heads of relevant departments, warmly received the visiting guests.
In the teaching area of the school library, Wu Changfa introduced the school’s educational philosophy and development characteristics, and Yu Ping, a teacher from the Chinese Language Group, presented the implementation of the school’s smart reading activities. In the school’s recording and broadcasting classroom, Lu Huimin from the English Group gave a demonstration of smart classroom teaching. The topic taught by Lu Huimin was “Know your school, Starter Period 2” from the first volume of the seventh-grade textbook. Before the class, Teacher Lu assigned preview tasks such as word follow-reading to students through the teacher’s end of the smart classroom, and analyzed the problems students encountered in previewing through the data of assessment exercises to determine the focus of the class; during the class, she used interactive tools such as random student selection, group discussions, and online Q&A to enhance classroom interaction and give full play to students’ initiative; after the class, she required students to record videos to introduce their school in English, realizing the transition from input to output in English language learning. The entire class achieved an in-depth integration of smart classroom and English teaching, creating a harmonious learning atmosphere and improving classroom efficiency. Members of the delegation spoke highly of the teaching demonstration.
In the subsequent discussion, Wu Changfa focused on introducing the smart reading, smart sports, smart classrooms, and smart management systems that the school has already built and put into use. Vice President Fang Lü introduced the relevant situation of the Singapore Artificial Intelligence Education Association, which is committed to empowering language education through artificial intelligence technology and promoting the inheritance and development of language and culture. President Cai Zhili introduced Singapore’s education, especially the application of artificial intelligence in Chinese language education. He expressed the hope of leading the association to maintain friendly exchanges and cooperation with relevant schools in China, and to build a bridge for educational cooperation between China and Singapore. Both sides also conducted in-depth exchanges on some difficult issues encountered in the promotion of artificial intelligence applications.
Hefei No.6 Middle School High-tech Campus, as one of Hefei’s first batch of smart school application demonstration schools and a pilot school for the new information technology curriculum in compulsory education in Hefei, has achieved remarkable results in recent years by leveraging artificial intelligence to empower the school’s development. Through this exchange with the Singapore Artificial Intelligence Education Association, the school will attach greater importance to the positive role of artificial intelligence in empowering language education and strive to create a more intelligent learning environment for students. The school encourages teachers to actively explore the application of artificial intelligence technology in teaching, with a view to improving teaching effectiveness and cultivating students’ innovative thinking and practical abilities.
