Last August, the Singapore Zui Hua Lin Club hosted a special lecture titled “Learning Chinese with You” to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. Dr. Chua Chee Lay, Lee Kuan Yew’s Chinese language tutor, was invited to share many touching stories about teaching Chinese to the Senior Minister. The event attracted over 400 enthusiastic attendees and received rave reviews after it ended.
This year, to prepare for the arrival of the artificial intelligence era and align with Singapore’s national policy of comprehensively developing artificial intelligence, the Zui Hua Lin Club has once again invited Dr. Chua Chee Lay, President of the Artificial Intelligence Education Association, to give a special lecture on AI entitled “Let AI Be a Good Helper”.
Dr. Chua will use simple and easy-to-understand language with many examples to explain how AI affects our lives, how it improves the quality of life and work efficiency, and recommend a variety of free and useful AI software to solve the problems that often trouble us. For example, it can help parents辅导 their children’s studies more easily, assist us in dealing with tedious tasks in life and work, and can also be used to prevent various fraud methods.
Dr. Chua has been deeply engaged in the field of educational technology for 40 years. He once served as a doctoral supervisor at Nanyang Technological University, an associate professor, head of the Chinese Department, and dean of the School of Arts at Southern University College. He has trained nearly 20,000 teachers and school principals both domestically and internationally, and is a renowned senior scholar in language, culture, and educational technology in our country. Currently, he is the Chief Applied Linguist of AIPILOT, President of the Contemporary Art Research Association, Head of the Writing Group of the National Committee for Promoting Chinese Language Learning, President of the May Poetry Society, and Editor-in-Chief of the “Art Research” journal. In 2021, he won the Southeast Asian Literature Award, and in 2024, he was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM) by the President in recognition of his years of contributions to promoting Chinese language and culture.
